Judging
The OSM International Composition Prize comprises three rounds
- Pre-selection: A preliminary jury will read through the scores and listen to the recordings to retain selected works for the semifinals;
- Semifinals (from October 1 to 4, 2006): A second jury will retain
four works for the finals;
- Finals (January 10, 2007): The OSM will perform the four final
qualifying compositions in the presence of a third jury who will then award
the Olivier Messiaen International Prize to the winning composition and the
Promise Prize to the second-place work. The OSM will be under the direction
of Jean-François Rivest, OSM's Conductor in residence..
The Claude Vivier National Prize will be awarded, during the finals, to the best Canadian work. If, however, no Canadian work is retained for the finals, one may be selected from the works of the preceding round by the jury of the semifinals. In the event that no Canadian work reaches the semifinals, the Claude Vivier National Prize will not be awarded.
Gala Concert
The OSM, led by its Music Director designate, Maestro Nagano, will present a Gala Concert in autumn 2007, during which the works awarded the Olivier Messiaen International Prize and the Claude Vivier National Prize will be performed.
